Dominique Schnizer was born in 1980 in Graz. Before he started working as a freelance director, he was an assistant director in his hometown as well as in Stuttgart. Amongst others he also worked for the Theatre Osnabrück, the German Schauspielhaus in Hamburg or the National Theatre in Weimar. His Heidelberg production of Nis-Momme Stockmann’s “Der Mann der die Welt aß” – winner of the author competition at Heidelberger Stückemarkt 2009 – was invited to various festivals, such as “Neue Stücke aus Europa” at the state theatre Wiesbaden or “Kaltstart” in Hamburg. Furthermore he staged several productions at the Teatro Avenida in Mozambique in cooperation with the Swedish author Henning Mankell. During last season he directed “Nathan der Weise” in Bremerhaven as well as “Richtfest” and “Das Interview” in Karlsruhe. In 2015, Schnizer will return to Heidelberg to direct “Der nackte Wahnsinn” by Michael Frayn and to present Art of Ageing! project “Bojim se da se sada poznajemo”, staged at Gavella Theatre Zagreb.
